The SEM Field Guide

Gallery

The terrain of the very small is stranger and better-looking than most landscapes at human scale — pollen like naval mines, fracture surfaces like box canyons, diatoms that out-engineer architects. This gallery collects the best of what readers see through their columns, with the settings that captured it, because a beautiful micrograph is also a teaching document.

The plinths are built and the first prints are being framed. The gallery opens with its first reader submissions — yours could be in the opening set.
